Whereas the land in the northern part of Ethiopia is more arid a great variety of plants – by
Ethiopian standards - grow in the region around Jimma. It rains more often and the forest
stand is greater than in other parts of Ethiopia. Under the trees the valuable Ethiopian coffee
is grown. The climatic conditions also make vegetables and bananas grow in abundance.
